welcome...

the plan for this blog is to share our three month journey across the top end of OZ later this year, with our family and friends, most of whom live far away from us. However, it will not only be a recording of our travels, it is also a place where I will record some words and pictures of things that make me happy...just day to day "stuff" that may or may not appeal to you but does make me smile...enjoy...

Day four....getting the hang of things.

Early start....beautiful river behind our site...Ned loved having time there building a sam. I successfully bakes the first batch of muffins in our oven, went walking this arvo and swam in a gorge (freezing), lots of turtles too. Bought some wifi time and sat quietly ON MY OWN to post this!!! Xx

Day three.

Today we left Cania gorge and drove for 6 hours to get to Canarvon Gorge. Massive day in the car and the last hour of driving was on a dirt road with a few crossings involving water...Andrew was unhappy I put the breaks on him getting a snorkel on the car!
Supplies are limited here and we warned to have more than we needed because if it rains too much we may get stuck here for a few extra days : /
We have a great campsite...next to the Richardson family who ate joint the first part of our adventure. The river is flowing behind us and there were kangaroos on the site when we pulled up. The car and van are covered in mud.I am feeling like this is pretty remote (no Internet or phone for 3 days!!).
We post some pics from our last few days....so far it is running smoothly and Andrew is certainly living his dream!! Starting to appreciate how massive Australia is. Xxx
Ps happy birthday mum! Xxxxxx

Day one

We did it....actually I did it!! I think there were a few doubters in our family that thought I would never really leave Buderim but I did! We are living Andrews dream and today he had a grin from ear to ear as we drove the kms to our first stop...Cania Gorge, just near the town if Monto.
The 450km drive was Pretty good. We had three stops for plays in parks, exploring new towns and of course SNACKS!
It is raining here now, one in bed and two to go. Enjoy the pics. Xx

Seven seed love

Today is our last day at home....we are feeling pretty good about the jobs we have done and there is not much left to do.
Rather than popping some pics here of the packing up I am sharing with you the ace gift that arrived in the mail today just for me from my little sister Lucy. Seven seeds coffee freshly ground and sent from Melbourne...perfect for my coffee machine in the van. Thanks chick I love it! X

Good times and good friends.

We Are so lucky to have made some great friends since we moved to the sunshine coast three and a half years ago. Moving was hard, we have close family in Victoria and it was such a massive thing to move interstate away from them all. However, lucky for us our family visit us here often and we go 'home' as often as we can.
On the past few weeks we have received some gorgeous cards and gifts from our friends and family, wishing us well on our three month journey in the 'caravan of courage'.
Today we bought an old style Polaroid style camera to take a photo a day for our journal that the Phyland family gave us. Bit hard to limit it to one shot a day as it is very cool...already taken three 'practice' ones today.
Three sleeps left and only three showers left for me WITHOUT thongs!

Phils pump house

Every week I drive to wombye to this petrol station to buy roses for our home. I love the roses I get from here...they are delivered at 2pm four days a week from a local rose farm...I buy 2-3 bunches and they last for ages around our house. I am really going to miss this weekly ritual....I took these pics last week when I went there for the last time (sob, sob!).
Fresh flowers make a world of difference to my mindset when I walk into a room, even I they are only a few marigolds picked from the vegetable garden.

My craft room.

Trying to decide what to take from my favorite room in our house has been really hard. How to choose what crafty things I might want while on the road for 3 months?? I am should be packing it all in one container but just can't manage to keep it to that...sometimes I just like to have beautiful fabric within reach to look at and touch. Sounds silly to most I know but crafty friends will 'get it' I'm sure. X
